POSING GUIDE

One of the number one questions that I always get for the engagement or wedding photography is about posing. Every time I go on a photoshoot, the first thing that I say is just show up and we will help you and guide you with photo poses. Remember that nobody is born with knowing exactly where to put their hands, where to position their shoulders, and how to stand to look their best. When we shoot the engagement session the poses are pretty standard but also playful, so you will get the hang of it very quickly. The reason we love engagement photo shoots is because during the engagement session you get a good grasp as to how to pose, isn’t that the best part. So on the day of your wedding you guys will be professionals at posing.

Couple photo shoot poses are as follows..
I love to start of with the pose that I call the hipster pose, it’s a very basic simple pose, I will ask you to stand next to each other holding hands. This is a easy start and a great image to capture it wide and get the location in and also details like your hands. I will here want you to start of facing me and then slowly move on to looking at each other. From this pose naturally and easy goes over to the walking shot is a great way of adding a little motion to the shoot. and getting you to loosen up a bit. We will start off with just holding hands and then come closer and your fiancé will wrap his arm around you to get a little closer. I always instruct a couple of a few things.

When you walk, look at each other smiling. I will mention no talking just because the in-between shots rarely come out flattering For the bride we typically tell her to walk with one foot in front of the other (like you’re walking a tightrope to add motion to the shoulders.

I usually add some fun to it and will ask you to loosen up and drunk walk, walk like you where drunk, yes you heard me right a drunk walk except the drunk faces. Keep the faces smiling and natural. This will definitely set off a laugh and create some candid moments and now you will be loosen up and ready for the next pose.

The Twirl is the next pose, yes it’s a simple twirl so during the walk I will just give you the simple instructions to stop and twirl your her, that is a great way to get the natural smiles coming and to get those candid in-between moments.

The look back pose is simple that you will turn around holding hands I will ask one of you to look back at me while the other one is looking the opposite way. This is a great pose to get as a wide image, but I will also come closer and tell you to lean your head on his shoulder and get closer to him and get that closer image.

The intimate pose is basically to get very close to each other, I will now tell you both to face each other and start of with forehead to forehead which is so beautiful and will bring a smile to your face. Of course a kiss always works at this point as well, but it’s not a must.

Holding him from behind everyone loves a cuddle so, I will ask you to give your man a hug from behind and look into the camera while your fiancé will look off camera to the side. This is a very simple but stunning image.

The wrap around for the wrap around I want him this time to huge you from the behind and wrap his arms around you and get close. This is a perfect pose to kind of look at each other, he can give you a kiss on the cheek or even whisper something to you that makes you go smiling and losen up even more.

The lift is the shot that you have to get in, when the man simple lifts his beautiful girl up and if you want add a twirl to it. If you are wearing a dress this is beautiful. To make the simple stunning pose go a little bit more fun I will ask you to stand facing me and close your eyes and your partner will come from behind and like I would call it kidnapping, so basically he will come from the back and lift you up and spin you around or just lift up and giggle with you. This is a fun and playful pose that makes it so much fun and the images are always so cute. If you are brave why not go for the piggy back a fun way of getting some real smiles and laughs in the images.

The dip kiss is the last pose I normally do, it’s a kiss when you are dipping your lady. So I will ask you to dance a little and then dip her down and give her that sweet slow kiss.
